The city was named after Commodore Thomas McDonough whose victory on Lake Champlain was one of the most brilliant naval exploits in the war of 1812. This city has a history of perseverance, growth and prosperity that still continues today. McDonough is a part of the Metro Atlanta Area and is 28 miles southeast of Georgia’s great capitol. At only 30 miles from Hartsville-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, McDonough is ideal for those who travel often for business, or those who simply love to travel!
